Valley Stomper-Callaway Finish 2nd at 2013 Triple Crown World Series
Congratulations to the Valley Stomper team for finishing 2nd out of 134 teams at the 2013 Triple Crown World Series held July 22-27th, 2013 in Reno Nevada. The team actually started their “tour” with a two day stop in Roseville where they played up into a 16U tournament winning 4 out of 5 games. Then the team left directly from Roseville to the Triple Crown world Series in Reno. The week at the World Series started off strong when the team finished 2nd in the team skills competition on the check-in day of the tournament. Because of the team’s better than 80% winning record over the last year, they were placed in the power pool ensuring that the team would play nothing but the toughest competition throughout the World Series. After going 2-2 in pool play, the Stompers made some adjustments and ran the Gold Bracket all the way to the championship game winning six games in a row scoring 40 runs while only allowing 11. During the World Series the Valley Stompers defeated some very strong teams. Those teams included:
- SoCal Wicked 98 (Pool Play 8-2)
- SoCal Breakers (Pool Play 13-9)
- Roseville Heat 98 (11-0)
- NorCal Bandits (4-0)
- AASA – Harrison (3-1)
- RR Gold – Miller (4-3)
- SoCal Jets (3-2)
- KG Hitters (6-5)
Unfortunately, the Stompers met a very strong California Breeze team in the championship game and lost 4-3. The Stompers were ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning when the Breeze hit a two run homer with two outs to take a 4-3 lead. This was an incredible week for the Valley Stomper team. They demonstrated what can be accomplished when team really does play as a team. Their energy and drive was incredible in every game.
